Apple, Bacon, and Cheddar Grilled Cheese Sandwich

A sweet, savoury and delicious sandwich.

Utensils

  • Skillet or griddle
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (your choice of bread)
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices of cooked bacon
  • Butter for spreading

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. On the unbuttered side of two slices of bread, layer one slice of cheddar cheese, followed by the sliced apples and cooked bacon.
  4. Top with another slice of cheddar cheese and the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
  5. Place the sandwiches on the skillet or griddle and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from heat, slice in half if desired, and serve hot.

Apple and Brie Crostini with Honey and Thyme

Duration: 16 minutes

Sweet, crunchy, delicious.

Utensils

  • Baking sheet

Ingredients

  • Baguette, sliced into rounds
  • Brie cheese, sliced
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • Honey
  • Fresh thyme leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and toast them in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until lightly golden and crisp.
  3. Remove the toasted baguette slices from the oven and top each with a slice of Brie cheese.
  4. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  5. Remove from the oven and top each crostini with thinly sliced apples.
  6. Drizzle honey over the apple-topped crostini and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves.
  7. Serve the apple and Brie crostini immediately as an elegant appetizer.

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Duration: 17 minutes

Sweet, warming, and full of the very best flavours.

Utensils

  • Saucepan

Ingredients

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 apple, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Plant-based milk (such as almond milk or oat milk), for serving
  • Additional toppings: chopped nuts, dried fruits, seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Stir in the rolled oats, diced apple, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, or until the oats are cooked and the mixture has thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and let the oatmeal cool slightly.
  5. Serve the apple cinnamon oatmeal warm, topped with plant-based milk and any additional toppings of your choice.
